The firm has a long history in the environmental law practice area, which includes representing clients on environmental matters in state and federal courts before regulatory agencies and in commercial transactions. Most importantly, the firm has been on the cutting edge of the environmental practice. Firm lawyers working in the environmental area represents clients in the timber products industry in some of the original superfund litigation and remediation in Mississippi. Additionally, the firm has gained national recognition as lead counsel for major oil and gas companies since the beginning of litigation involving Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) and other oil field waste materials. Two of the firm’s environmental lawyers tried the first cases ever tried in the United States in such area. The firm continues to lead the bar in the ever expanding area of environmental practice.
